
As Sandra and I became older we helped my mother in the kitchen by peeling and chopping onions and celery, and snapping green beans, to name a few. Even though the guests were relatives, everything had to be immaculate. We had to polish the silver and furniture and floors had to be waxed and the carpet vacuumed. My mother would roast the turkey and bake the ham and nothing was bought prepared!...
